As of June 3rd, the Eastern Shore of Virginia Habitat
for Humanity will have Saturday hours available for
volunteers. In order to build three to four homes
each year, there is a need for many volunteers. Lately
there have only been weekday hours available to work,
but we now have supervision for a Saturday crew.
If you have wanted to volunteer to work on a Habitat
house, but work schedules did not allow it, this
is your opportunity. Every Saturday in June there
will be work in Keller, or possibly Bridgetown. The
volunteers will be asked to work from 9 AM until
about 3 PM, and bring a bag lunch. Most of the current
work is indoor work - sheetrock, painting, hanging
cabinets and trim work. You do not need experience,
as long as you are willing to learn.
Habitat expects to continue Saturday hours as long
as there are volunteers to work, so please register
as soon as possible. Each volunteer needs to fill
out an application and liability form before being
allowed to work, and will be scheduled according
to your availability and the work schedule.
Please call the Habitat office at 442-HOUS(4687)
for
more information. Please leave your name, mailing
address, phone number and availability in order to
add you to our schedule. You can also print
and complete a volunteer/liability form here.
Whether you want to work one Saturday a year, a month
or occasionally, we need you. If you want to come as
a group, we can arrange for up to ten people to work
together. Please help us eliminate sub standard housing
on the Eastern Shore one family at a time.
